But, for those with factitious disorders, what a dream come true Mary Leitao gave to all of them. I feel so sorry for the ones with nervous disorders who feel they can use this to blame it on, deluding themselves into thinking that non-delusional people, even doctors, could ever fall for it. I've read that when people like that really are in need of medical attention, due to their reputation of doctor and hospital hopping, they put themselves at risk of not receiving it. Some even inject themselves with insulin to make themselves sick. Since there are patients like that who have latched onto "morgellons disease", imagine them going into doctors and saying that they think they have it, and it results in their getting diagnosed as DOP. I bet they hit the ceiling sometimes. I feel that the researchers, and the quacks who advertise for patients who have diagnosed themselves with this fake disease, who'll then, test, and treat them for it, are the scum of the earth. The poor patients with actual DOP, so deluded from their serious physical conditions that have caused it, risking having their lives being shortened due to heart attacks, strokes, organ failure, cancer, etc., are so very sad to know about. So are the ones, well, you know, the most helpless ones of all, in and out of institutions, as well as homeless ones, plus alcoholics, and drug addicts. I sure hope the CDC can do something, but we can't take a step backwards, plus, our states already have laws. They’ve all got agendas and are exploiting vulnerable people, all right. I used to call them soap spots. A girl in primary school started picking at my arm one day in class. I was so upset with her. She kept showing me saying "look what is coming out of your arm all white stuff". I had not noticed these white lumps ever. I wish she never showed me. I can recall picking those lumps whenever I got upset as a kid, it flaired up and down like that my entire life, and here I am now. Please don't think I am making a joke here but that girl in school was French I think, or her family was, I used to go play there, and we sat in French class together in Form 1 at high school. So, my actual point here is that Morgellons is not Delusions of Parasitosis, at least not always. The sad thing is, this hurts them two ways. Firstly, hurried doctors diagnose them as delusional, and secondly they diagnose themselves as having “Morgellons”, in both ways depriving them of appropriate medical care.

If you think you have Morgellons, perhaps you should browse though Dermnet first, just to get an idea of the range of possibilities.
